Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his future after another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with outcomes like these.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
